I found the red/blue fringing around the text cursor to be so distracting that I had to turn off Cleartype. The website adjustment page didn't turn it off, I had to used the properties.

Is there a Windows API to disable the ClearType? I did an extensive Google search, and - except for changing it manually - I couldn't find any way to disable it (a RegEdit modification doesn't really fit the bill - I do not want the user to reboot the machine just to run my software).
